The painting consists of an abstract composition with a large number of overlapping shapes and lines. The colors are bright and high-contrast, with abundant yellow, red, blue, and white, complemented by green and black. The paint is visibly applied with broad and rapid brushstrokes. The picture plane is completely filled and lacks a clear central point. There is no perspective; the space appears flat. The forms are irregular and partially outlined with dark lines. In some places, the forms resemble fragments of figures, but they are not clearly defined. Both thick and more transparent layers of paint are visible. The composition contains many diagonal directions and intersections of lines. The whole creates a busy and complex visual image.
It is in excellent condition.
Gerbertus Nicolaas 'Ger' Brouwer was born on May 15, 1938, in Sneek (Friesland). He studied at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht and received the Hustinx Prize, which enabled him to make a study trip to Italy. Brouwer is known as a "painter and draftsman of life in motion." His work includes oil paintings with titles such as "Stelling" (1979), "Stalling" (1979), "Ace" (1972), and "Basin" (1970). These works were auctioned at Venduehuis Dickhaut Maastricht. In 1981–1982, an exhibition of his paintings from the period 1963–1981 took place at the Bonnefantenmuseum in Maastricht.
