Very big!
Matter painting.
Oil painting with sand on canvas.
Due to his paint treatment with many many layers of paint, many of Gerard Strik's paintings have an almost sculpted surface structure. The sand he adds to his oil paint is not only for the structure; it makes his paint 'earthy'.
The abstracted landscape becomes tangible.
