Beautiful and very large color screen print by Gerard t, Hart
Tabletop dimensions 70 x 80 cm, in very good condition.
The work is hand-signed
Gerard 't Hart (1933) studied at the Free Academy of Visual Arts in The Hague from 1955 to 1960. The artist's oeuvre is very versatile. It includes paintings, chalk drawings, and paper collages. He has also created wall reliefs, three-dimensional works, and color projects related to architecture, as well as photography.
To earn a living, a few years after his studies, he went to sea on the ships of the Rotterdam shipping company the Holland America Line. In this way, he ended up in South America and his fascination with other cultures and countries was born.
With his paper compositions, Gerard 't Hart has secured a special place for himself in contemporary visual art in the Netherlands. It is in these compositions that he manifests himself as an artist with a desire for concentration and subtlety. A desire for form, color, and abstracted visual content of a poetic simplicity.
Colors have an essential meaning for him. Color is atmosphere, scent, wonder, happiness, vitality, or the longing for them. For Gerard 't Hart, the tonality of a painting is determined by the use of one or more dominant colors, which are applied in loose color fields.
Filled with longing for unification in the unique dance in which life unfolds, he knows how to cherish the silence in these spaces of color, which is a prerequisite for recognizing the wonders of existence: every work of his hand is a trajectory of his journey of imagination.
