This roof structure or stable interior is a beautiful and characteristic work by the Eindhoven painter Gerard van Iersel. It shows an intriguing, powerful composition inspired by a heavy wooden beam or roof structure, possibly from an old barn or stable.
The work is executed in his characteristic style with layered color usage. The warm, deep earth tones and dark browns contrast sharply with the luminous ochre and golden areas in the background.
The work is in good and original condition with a beautiful, thick, and vibrant paint texture. As can be seen in the photo and detail photo, there is a very small chip of paint missing from the edge of one beam. It is not distracting to the overall picture, but is mentioned clearly for the sake of transparency. There are also some small pieces of paint missing in the right corner.
