Information about the artist:
Gerdine Duijsens-Kroezen (Utrecht, 1951) studied at the Municipal Academy of Fine Arts Arendonk (Belgium).
Figuration and abstraction are united in the cheerful, colorful palette of Gerdine Duijsens-Kroezen. Her paintings are a commentary on the world in which we live. Consumerism, the pursuit of status, and excessive indulgence are recurring themes in her oeuvre. She treats these subjects not moralistically, but visually and with subtle irony. These are works that make you think without alienating, precisely because they are so recognizable.
The people in her paintings are hedonists, a tad blasé or ridiculous, arrogant or insecure, cheerful or bored.
