 GODWIN ADJEI SOWAH
He lives in Ghana. Becoming an artist – that has been his wish since childhood. After his final exams (Abitur), he studied at the Ghanatta College of Arts in Accra from 1995 to 1998, completing his studies with an award for Best Artist of the Year. As a freelance artist, he has opened a gallery in Accra, where he sells his paintings, meets other artists, and gives painting lessons. It is particularly important to him to pass on his skills to children, young people, and adults. The income from his paintings and various workshops enables him and his family to make a living from his work. In his paintings, Godwin Adjei Sowah likes to use typical African motifs. People in their natural environment and in their daily activities give substance to his colorful, vibrant paintings. He finds inspiration in his immediate surroundings and follows inner images, which he tries to make visible. His medium is primarily acrylic paint, which he applies to the canvas with a palette knife and a brush. Anyone who sees his paintings immediately imagines themselves immersed in African life.
