Guy Olivier - "Billiards"

Artist Guy Olivier creates idiosyncratic, flamboyant paintings full of zest for life. Whether they are portraits of voluptuous, self-assured young women or of tipsy night owls who have suddenly seen the light or found love. His drawings featuring imaginative culinary masterpieces are also inspiring. His work is characterized by a deeply felt unrestrainedness—at first glance accidental and wild, but with enormous technical refinement. In his drawings with Chinese ink, you often see subtle color gradations in watercolor or other color media. And in the larger works, using both tube and brush, stencils, and other techniques, his imagination comes onto the canvas raw and without hesitation. The result is a surprising, powerful artistic signature. He exhibits both at home and abroad.
