=======================================================
Hendricus Antonius Josephus Maria de Laat, born on January 2, 1900, and died on April 22, 1980, in 's-Hertogenbosch, lived and worked in this city. Hendrik de Laat received drawing and painting lessons from, among others, Frans Kops, Piet Slager Jr., André Verhorst, and Frans Slager. He was self-taught in his black-and-white and color etchings and gained great renown for this. He served as art critic for the Noord Brabants Dagblad 'Het Huisgezin' for five years. In 1970, he was awarded the silver Jeroen Bosch Medal by the municipal government of 's-Hertogenbosch. At that time, the Provincial Society of Arts and Sciences in North Brabant included 86 etchings and drawings in its print cabinet. The Municipality of 's-Hertogenbosch and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam also own a number of his works.
