Received from the artist's wife. He was born in Arnhem in 1927 and died in Amsterdam in 2007. Active as a painter of women and an illustrator. After his training at the Art Academy in Arnhem, he began traveling, during which he also made many drawings of cityscapes. Initially, he painted primarily cityscapes of Amsterdam and many women.
He was a member of Arti et Amicitiae. He exhibited together with the artists' association De Brug in the new wing of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. De Brug was founded in July 1926, modeled after Die Brücke. Its aim was the introduction of New Objectivity into painting. De Brug was disbanded in 1996.
Later, he also exhibited in the Glass House in the Amstelpark.
