Nice painting by Jan Schaeffer, painted on panel. It is a work from his later years. It is in a beautiful frame. Will be shipped well-packaged.
Jan Schaeffer (Rotterdam 1923-2018) was a versatile artist. He was best known for his Rotterdam harbors, landscapes, riverscapes, cityscapes, and still lifes, later adding tableaus. All of this was done in a romantic-figurative style reminiscent of the Hague School.
Jan Schaeffer's artistic career is characterized by his passion for painting. Image, and especially color, fascinated him.
At a young age, he received lessons from Gerrit Wiegman, a well-known Rotterdam painter. The style of Jan's work can still be found in it.
In 2009, his biography was published: “What I find beautiful, I want to depict”. You will receive this book as a gift with the purchase of this painting.
