Jan Schaeffer (Rotterdam 1923-2018) was a versatile artist. He was best known for his Rotterdam harbors, landscapes, riverscapes, cityscapes, and still lifes.
All this in a romantic-figurative style, reminiscent of the Hague School.
Jan Schaeffer's artistic career is characterized by his passion for painting. He was fascinated by image and especially color.
At a young age, he took lessons from Gerrit Wiegman, a well-known Rotterdam painter. His style is still evident in his work.
Beautiful work by Jan, in excellent condition. It was never hung on a wall, but comes from his estate.
