Jan van Lokhorst - Fishing - Sold

A beautiful painting with bright colors and expressive paint that flows straight from the tube is characteristic of Jan van Lokhorst. This work is from the beginning of his fish series, a series created since 2011. Fish from the ocean, with beautiful colors that painters can hardly match.
Jan van Lokhorst sometimes placed fish from the fish market next to his easel for inspiration. He chose a rich palette of colors in each painting. Sometimes he used flatter textures, where the colors seem to be brushed together. Other times, he used characteristic lines, sometimes several millimeters thick.
The painting is therefore a beautiful spectacle of thicker and thinner layers from the side.
This painting features a lemon-yellow background that creates a sense of calm. A larger fish at the bottom of the canvas swims to the right. A second fish, further up the canvas, swims to the left. Yellow, orange, and pink colors form the background of the canvas. The lines that define the fish are more green and soft yellow.
