I am offering this original work by Jean-Jacques Marie, created with acrylic on thick paper and signed.
What I particularly like about this work is the contrast between the strength of the large black strokes and the delicacy of the lines that run through them. A few touches of red punctuate the composition without dominating it.
Despite an apparent spontaneity, the whole is very constructed: the fullness and emptiness, the quick strokes and the masses of matter find a balance that gives a lot of presence to the work.
This is also what I appreciate in Jean-Jacques Marie's work: a very gestural, energetic painting, but one that never gives the impression of a gesture left to chance.
I own a second work of the same format, created in the same spirit and with the same palette, also offered at auction.
Each one works on its own, but the two make a very nice set when hung side by side.
The artwork is sold framed in a light and sturdy black frame with shatterproof acrylic glass, ready to hang.
