Jelle Hoogstra begon zijn opleiding in 1942 te Arnhem. Zijn expressieve - impressionistische stijl is thans wijd verspreid onder verzamelaars. Daar hij zelf weinig naar buiten trad is maar een beperkt publiek getuige geworden van zijn toch omvangrijk oeuvre.
