Information about the artist:
Johannes Hessel Brolsma (Groningen, 1909 - Ede, 1990) was a Dutch painter, watercolorist, restorer and draftsman.
-Education: Born and raised in Groningen, he leaves for Amsterdam at the age of 28 to study at the art academy. He was taught by Jos Rovers and Albert Hemelman, among others.
He painted landscapes and cityscapes in an impressionistic style. He has become known for his winter landscapes, not only in an impressionistic but also romantic style.
He also painted still lifes.
Most of his life (from 1954) Johannes Hessel Brolsma lived and worked in Ede, where he also died. He was a member of the Edese art association there.
Brolsma's work is included in the collection of the historical museum of Ede, among others.
