Jos MOUS
1896-1968. Opgeleid aan de Antwerpse Academie en aan het NHISKA onder de leiding van R. Baseleer. In 1922 wordt hem de eervolle Prix de Rome toegekend. Behalve schilder en tekenaar was hij ook succesvol beeldhouwer. Van 1949 tot 1966 gaf hij les aan de tekenschool en later aan de Academie van Turnhout. Werk van Mous werd opgenomen in de afdeling "Arbeid aan de haven" in het Museum van Antwerpen. Twee genres vallen op in het oeuvre van Mous: de oogsttaferelen met zware boerenarbeid en de taferelen uit het Antwerpse havenleven met de zware arbeid van de dokwerkers.
