Two Walking Eggs by Koen Vanmechelen. Two extra 'legs' are included. The glass egg is missing from this third example. The sculptures are signed and numbered on the ring around the 'legs'.
The two Walking Eggs by Belgian artist Koen Vanmechelen are sculptural objects in which fragility and symbolism converge. The glass eggs, crafted in Murano and fitted with stainless steel legs, depict the movement of life and the ongoing search for identity and origin. The egg forms a recurring motif in Vanmechelen's oeuvre and symbolizes fertility, vulnerability, and new life. With their poetic aura and unique combination of materials, the Walking Eggs balance between art and science, inviting reflection on the origin and diversity of life.
