We were able to acquire work by Dutch artist Krin Rinsema from a large collection. This poetic and beautifully crafted work is perfect for contemplation or dreaming. The work is in perfect condition. The spots and black smudges in the white border around the artwork were created by the artist during the process and can be covered with a mat, but they are part of the artist's creative and editing process. The etching's impression is smaller than the paper size.
You can preview the work in the gallery Rotor's treasury in Gorinchem or pick it up after purchase. The work can also be shipped by registered mail. We can also handle the framing for you.
Krin Rinsema (Meppel, 1947) prefers to make etchings. She uses aluminum offset plates she gets from the local printer. After six or seven prints, the plate wears out. This gives the prints a unique quality, and she usually continues working on the work afterward. Sometimes by inking the plate differently, and sometimes by working on the paper with, for example, charcoal.
Her work is about emotions. Humans have somehow learned to control and restrain their emotions, but in her work, she gives these emotions free rein.
After studying Psychology at the University of Groningen, she attended the art academy in Arnhem. In an interview, she once said, "I didn't study psychology for nothing; I hope it shows in my work. Body language fascinates me. A man with a 'worried' gait can captivate me, and I feel a connection with vulnerable people. Self-confident people are a waste of time."
Krin expresses herself best in black, preferring black ink or charcoal. Color is distracting because it's not the point. Like a true alchemist, Krin constantly experiments with combining different techniques, aiming to imbue her work with the right emotionality.
