This still life was created by Lau Heidendael, winner of the prestigious Prix de Rome. His work has been featured in numerous exhibitions and is held in various private and public collections.
His still lifes are said to be more about light and space than about the objects that compose them. Heidendael "describes" that space and characterizes it with subtle hues of color. Graphic elements can also be found in his paintings, for example, in the way he draws the shapes with his brush. Transparency also predominates in these linear elements.
In the watercolors and paintings, the structure of the themes is revealed through superimposed brushstrokes and washes in a light atmosphere. The resulting network of spots achieves a high degree of abstraction.
