I am offering for sale this superb original oil on canvas by the internationally renowned Haitian artist, Laurent Casimir (1928-1990).
This major work fits perfectly within the Haitian Naïve art movement and illustrates the painter's favorite theme: a vibrant and lively market scene. The figures are depicted in a highly stylized, almost geometric manner, interlocking in a dynamic and fluid composition. The color palette is particularly luminous, dominated by an intense turquoise background, bright yellows, and warm ochre tones.
Frame: Sold with its original structured wood frame (perfectly in keeping with the style of the artwork)
The work is in excellent overall condition. The colours have retained all their original vibrancy and brilliance.
Authentic signature: The style of the "Casimir" signature with its dynamic and underlined stroke is quite characteristic of the artist's original works.
