Lea Vanderstraeten - SUMMER

Léa Vanderstraeten (1929) is a Flemish-Belgian painter. She studied at the Royal Academy in Ghent with Jules Toussaint De Sutter. Her work varies from still lifes and floral arrangements to rural scenes to compositions with female figures. In 1979, Lea Vanderstraeten acquired a gold medal for "Mérite artistique Européen". She then received a silver medal at the Salon des Artistes in Paris. And in 1983 she was made Knight in the Order of Leopold II for her work. Ten years later she became a Knight in the Order of the Crown for her entire oeuvre. Paintings by this artist are owned by, among others, the Belgian State, the Oberhausen State Museum, Germany, the Museum of Deinze and the Leie Region, the City of Ghent, the municipalities of Sint-Amandsberg and Sint-Martens-Latem.
