-Education: Maarten Jungmann became a lithographer and learned the trade at the Rotterdam printer Vürtheim. Subsequently, he attended the Rotterdam Academy of Fine Arts under the tutelage of Jan Striening. During and after his studies, which he completed in 1895, he traveled to Venice, London, Marseille, Athens, and Paris, where he had contact with, among others, Cees van Dongen and Pablo Picasso.
