Maarten 't Hart (Amersfoort 1950) received his training at the Artibus Academy in Utrecht and has been working in the hamlet of Groot Oever, between Balkbrug and IJhorst (Ov.), since 1976. Maarten paints and draws barns, farmhouses, residential houses, railway station buildings, castles, and churches. Architecture is therefore an important theme in his work. In this regard, he is primarily inspired by his own living environment: Drenthe and Overijssel. However, he also travels to capture beautiful or characteristic buildings elsewhere in the country. Drawing and painting churches is a specialty of Maarten's. He creates both interiors and exteriors. His preference lies with medieval churches, which he captures both at home and abroad. In addition to architecture, he creates various still lifes and landscapes. His work is included in a large number of private collections as well as various corporate and museum collections. Furthermore, several books have been published (1984, 1991, 2008).
