According to Verdoes (The Hague, 1960), art should be an experience that invites the mind to transcend the obvious. In his contemporary work, he reflects on humanity's place in the cosmos and on a world in constant flux. Verdoes combines photography, paint, and natural processes, in which chance plays a vital role. Air, heat, and water function as active co-creators in his work. In his studio, he developed unique techniques, including capturing cracking mud and integrating photography and painting. Verdoes began his career as a photographer for publications including Esquire and Avantgarde and grew into a multidisciplinary artist with an oeuvre strongly inspired by the Tao and nature.
