Martine Jacobs - Folded Movement - Sold

This work is a print hand-colored by the artist using pastel chalk. This hand-coloring process makes each piece unique. A certificate of authenticity is included.

"With 'Folded Movement,' I wanted to show how something so tight and precise, like origami, can still express so much movement. You see a white horse folded from paper. The sharp lines and planes of the origami give the horse a unique appearance, as if it could move at any moment.
I created the background in a style reminiscent of Mondrian, with straight lines and calming color fields like reddish brown, cream, and dark blue. These clean lines frame the horse. Behind it, you can just see a glimpse of a forest, giving the horse a place in the world.
"Folded Movement" is about the balance between precise form and vibrant energy. It shows how freedom and strength can be found even in rigid art. I hope this work makes you feel both the beautiful form and the vibrant movement of the horse.
