Maurice M. Grothausen, BNA and BNI, is an architect responsible for the exterior and interior of hospitals, hotels, shops, and residential and country houses. In collaboration with visual artists, he integrates their work into his commissions. As a painter, his work centers around travel impressions from journeys across various continents, including Europe: Italy, France, Spain, Denmark, Sweden, Ameland, Norway, Iceland, Finland, Ireland, Scotland, and America; and Asia: Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Ukraine, and Australia. He manages to convey such expression that the characteristic atmosphere of the country is reflected on the canvas. He uses mixed media, watercolor, and acrylic techniques. His paintings are held in private and corporate collections both domestically and internationally, as well as in the Academic Medical Center and the Onze Lieve Vrouwe Gasthuis in Amsterdam.
