Style & Inspiration: Grothausen often began his works with a circle, square, or triangle—forms that he, like artists such as Wim Crouwel and André Volten, considered universal and powerful. The panels feature a sleek 3D relief, with a minimalist abstract style that is timeless and modern. Application: These panels are perfect as artistic eye-catchers in a home, office space, garden, or public area. Also highly suitable as an exclusive art gift. As an architect, Maurice M. Grothausen, BNA and BNI, handles the exterior and interior of hospitals, hotels, shops, and residential and country houses. In collaboration with visual artists, he integrates their work into his commissions.
As a painter, his work centers around travel impressions from journeys across various continents, including Europe: Italy, France, Spain, Denmark, Sweden, Ameland, Norway, Iceland, Finland, Ireland, Scotland, and America; and Asia: Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Ukraine, and Australia. He manages to convey such expression that the characteristic atmosphere of the country is reflected on the canvas. He employs mixed media, watercolor, and acrylic techniques. His paintings are held in private and corporate collections both domestically and internationally, as well as in the Academic Medical Center and the Onze Lieve Vrouwe Gasthuis in Amsterdam.
