Michel van Overbeeke is known for his glass chandeliers in the provincial government building Paviljoen Welgelegen and his stained-glass window in the Grote or St. Bavokerk in Haarlem, but his work extended far beyond that. He was not only a glass artist but also a painter, draftsman, photographer, filmmaker, and ceramist, and enjoyed working with mixed media. As he himself said: “In every medium, you can express something in a different way.” He found his inspiration in his continuous search for the meaning of existence; the creative process gave him answers but simultaneously raised ever-new questions.
