Original watercolor on silk by Odile Penelle (1946-2015) – "Solar Landscape"
Superb original watercolor on natural silk by the French artist Odile Penelle. This luminous and soothing work perfectly illustrates the poetic and graphic style of the 1980s.
The painting depicts a stylized landscape with soft forms: a winding path leads the eye to a house surrounded by trees, all bathed in the glow of a vibrant red sun. The technique of painting on silk creates a unique transparency and diffusion of color that cannot be achieved on paper or canvas.
Characteristics: Artist: Odile Penelle (signed lower right).
Technique: Watercolor and inks on silk.
Dimensions: 85 x 85 cm (Large square format).
Palette: Harmony of warm tones (ochre, sienna, sand) and graphic contrasts.
Framing: Under glass with a thin gold frame that highlights the brilliance of the silk.
Condition: Excellent condition, the colors have remained fresh and the silk is perfectly stretched.
Odile Penelle is a renowned artist whose silk works are sought after for their timeless elegance. This large format is ideal for adding a touch of serenity and authenticity to a living room or bedroom.
Sales tip:
As this is a large format work under glass (85x85 cm), we offer hand delivery or, if you agree, secure shipping (which will require very protective packaging).
The price of a work by Odile Penelle depends on the sales channel chosen. For a large format (85 x 85 cm), the observed prices are:
1. Auction Value (Official Price)
At auction houses such as Drouot or Boisgirard-Antonini, Odile Penelle's watercolors or inks on silk of similar sizes (approximately 82 x 82 cm) are generally valued
"Reserve" or starting price: 300 EUR.
Aimed at collectors of vintage/design decor.
For comparison, works of equivalent size are currently offered for around €480 on sites like Pamono or Etsy.
Given its excellent apparent condition and generous square format,
The artwork is ready to hang (framed under glass), as a frame of this size costs around €100 to €150 on its own, which justifies a higher price.
