Paul de Lussanet was born in Laren. He grew up with his grandparents in Laren, both of whom were painters. He studied economics at the University of Amsterdam. In 1960, his parents allowed him to take an etching course on the island of Lesbos, organized by the Athens Art Academy, hoping to continue his studies there. This did not happen, as painting appealed to him more. Between 1961 and 1962, he studied in Salzburg at the "Schule des Sehens" under the direction of Kokoschka, and in Antwerp at the Royal Academy of Art, where he created landscape-like abstract paintings in the style of Ecole-de-Paris. He then spent three years in Paris. He made his debut in 1964 at the Laren Knipscheer with works of erotic women.

He has had studios in many places, including Laren, Baarn, Mander in Twente, Paris, Vence (Southern France), and Amsterdam. His work is generally figurative and vibrantly colored.
Exhibitions: 1964 Knipscheer in Laren, 1965 Galerie Krikhaar in Amsterdam, 1966 Galeriie Lahumiere in Paris, 1967 Galerie Krikhaar in Amsterdam, 1970 Galerie Balans in Amsterdam, 1970 Galerie Orez in The Hague, 1972 Galerie Grabowski in London, 1974 Galerie Brinkman in Amsterdam, 1981 Des Bouvrie in Busssum, 1982 Galerie Van Voorst van Beest in The Hague, 1983 Galerie Susan Montezinos, 1984 Galerie Krikhaar in Amsterdam, 1985 Galerie Quintessens in Utrecht, 1987 Galerie Quintessens in Utrecht, 1989 Galerie Quintessens in Utrecht, 1990 Galerie Quintessens in Utrecht,m 1991 Gallery Liverpool in Brussels. Philadelphia. Art 83, Basel. FIAC/Krikhaar. He also had many group exhibitions (mentioned in the book "Paul de Lussanet" by E. Wingen, published by Kempen Publishers).
Later, he focused on directing films. He became known, among other things, for the films Mysteries in 1978 and Lieve Jongens in 1980 with Hugo Metsers.
His works have been purchased by the Stuyvesant Foundation, Breda Collection, AH Heineken, Rudolf Nureyev, Museum Boymans-van Beuningen, Abrams Art Publishers.
