This unique, circular work by Paulette Snijders-Bremen (Kerkrade, 1946) colorfully and expressively depicts a fusion of faces and natural elements. It invites the viewer to look again and again and discover new forms.

Snijders-Bremen studied monumental art at the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts and the Jan van Eyck Academy, and took additional courses with Frans de Haas (etching), at the Delft Academy (Indonesian batik), and in philosophy in Heerlen.

She worked in Germany, Spain, Algeria, and various locations in the Netherlands. Her time in the Mediterranean landscape and her experiences in Algeria profoundly influenced her work.

Emotion forms the core of her art – love, anger, unrest, warmth, and time pressure run like threads throughout her oeuvre. Her creative inspiration is an escape from reality, expressed in dreamlike images where themes such as movement, music, myths, and especially women – loving, elusive, and transparent – take center stage.

The work can be viewed in our gallery. Art Dumay also has a framing workshop (this year celebrating its 85th anniversary) and a restoration studio. If you'd like to use these facilities, please let us know.
