Dutch artist Peter Diem (born 1945) paints like a tornado and lives his art. Bold, fearless colors, thick, rich paint, and bold, sensual lines are the hallmarks of his paintings. They reflect his zest for life, his sense of humor, and his distinct individuality. These powerful paintings are thus representative examples of his turbulent lifestyle.
In his early twenties, Peter Diem left the Netherlands for the United States. He spent his days earning a living as a lithographer, but his soul was saturated with the paintings he worked on in his studio at night.
Peter was, and remains, fascinated by the COBRA group (an art school that emerged from Copenhagen, Brussels, and Amsterdam), which experimented wildly. This inspiration made color his primary means of expression.
