This etching is "ready to hang". It is in a 30 x 40 cm bronze-colored frame that combines beautifully with the color of the barely visible piece of skin on the neck.
This etching/mezzotint has the characteristic velvety appearance, caused by the mezzotint technique. By polishing more or less, it is possible to achieve different shades of gray, or halftones, hence the name mezzo (half) tint. This depends on the skill of the engraver/artist. The technique allows for smooth transitions between the different shades of gray. As a result, the prints create a velvety impression. This is an old technique in which Undabeytia has mastered. This etching is a P/A, or Prueba de Artista 8/8, meaning the final (best) proof.
