Reinald van den Steene (Rotterdam, 1937 – 2009) studied at the Rijksacademie voor Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. His work has been acquired by the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, the Singer Museum Laren, the Museum Henriëtte Polak in Zutphen, the Municipality of Amsterdam, the AMC Amsterdam, and various collectors. Reinald van den Steene grew up surrounded by art. He inherited his love of art from his father, Cuno, a monumental and religious artist. Van den Steene works in various techniques and styles: oil paint, watercolor, drawings, and linocuts. The subjects of his oeuvre often have a strong symbolic quality. Intimate portraits of women and scenes from the Bible form some of his themes, but nature is also a source of inspiration. His work has a poetic character; through composition and the use of color, he manages to create a remarkably intimate atmosphere. In 1970, Reinald van den Steene won the Jeanne Bieruma-Oosting Prize. exhibitions 2009 – Bellamy Buurtmuseum, Amsterdam 1977 – Singer Museum, Laren 1960 – Ina Broerse, Amsterdam Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam
