Beautiful oil painting by René De Lannoy (1907-1984), born in Antwerp, died in Sint-Niklaas (B). A work that reminds me of Constant Permeke in terms of style, subject matter, and use of paint.
Sarah Vermeulen of Ghent University, in her 2006 monograph on René De Lannoy: “He left behind an extensive oeuvre of drawings, graphic work, and paintings, which remains almost entirely in the family collection to this day. In 2007, a retrospective was organized at the Municipal Museum of Sint-Niklaas to commemorate the artist, on the occasion of his centenary, and as a sign of (re)appreciation.”
Work on panel, in very good condition, placed in a new frame by me (with a classic/antique feel).
Featuring a beautiful signature in the upper right corner.
Can be viewed in Almere and picked up there after purchase. Shipping is also possible in consultation.
