Information about the artist:
Graduating as a jeweler/goldsmith from the Vocational School in Schoonhoven has influenced her independent work and demonstrates an attention to refinement and detail. After years of broad orientation in the field of art and culture, she focused primarily on painting and writing from 2010 onwards, subsequently resuming sculpting in 2017.
Her iconic portraits of women look at you. The work depicts a world between reality and desire, a romanticized and timeless image in which she aims to touch and question the viewer through (personal) symbolism. The window revealing the decorative Art Nouveau-like motifs draws you, the viewer, into that world and perhaps even allows you to experience it. In this way, this friendly, naive world perhaps becomes a more personal story.
The artist herself says about her work:
In a world between desire and reality, I let imagination take shape. Color, form, and language are of essential importance in this process, while air and water serve as a source of inspiration. However, I am not a realistic artist, nor is that my ambition. I love the naivety that runs through my entire oeuvre and that originates from within me. In my work, I seek contact with the viewer and am constantly looking for the possibility of making the world a little more beautiful.
