Original ceramic sculpture by the Dutch artist and ceramist Rien Wensma (1920–2007). The work consists of a small, finely detailed architectural/interior composition featuring stacked books, small cabinets, a rack, and a bottle-shaped element on top. The sculpture is executed in muted green, blue, brown, and red tones and has a distinctly hand-formed character. The underside features the incised artist's monogram/signature of Rien Wensma and is dated '85, which corresponds to 1985. Artist: Rien Wensma Year: 1985 Material: ceramic Technique: hand-formed and glazed ceramic Signature: incised on the underside Origin: The Netherlands The work is in vintage condition with light traces consistent with age and use. A fine line/hairline crack is visible on the front of the base; please see the detail photos for this. A characteristic small work by Wensma and an interesting collector's item within Dutch studio ceramics from the 1980s.
