Modern, surrealist representation of a bronze sculpture composed of 2 parts, loosely mounted on a black marble base (19.5 x 19.5 x 5cm).

Roland Monteyne, born in Lauwe, West Flanders, was an idiosyncratic artist and holder of a degree in Oriental languages and history. He was not only a bronze sculptor but also a painter, etcher, and illustrator of literary works.
Monteyne called himself a surrealist, and his works were not merely about the decorative. A work of art had the task of surprising, disturbing, and shaking the viewer awake. He drew inspiration from Eastern philosophy and cosmic thought.
His sculptures (primarily the intimate female body) are often semi-abstract; body parts are distorted, stylized, and rendered partially unrecognizable.

Around 1970, he established his own bronze foundry in Herdersem. He worked with the so-called lost-wax method, a technique in which a wax model is used to cast a bronze sculpture.

The work is preferably collected. If this is not possible, shipping by arrangement.
