DESCRIPTION An original, unique artwork created in 2011 by Mexican artist
Rubén Maya Moreno, recognised for his expressive visual language and
distinctive symbolic imagery.
The composition features an elongated face and an intense gaze,
characteristic of the artist’s figurative universe.
The combination
of pastel on amate paper and gold acrylic creates an engaging
contrast between the organic texture of the support and the luminous
background, giving the piece an evocative, ritual-like atmosphere.
Amate paper, a material associated with a long-standing
Mesoamerican craft tradition, lends the work a distinctive material
depth and a connection to Mexico’s cultural heritage.
A small house appears on the figure’s chest, a recurring element
in the artist’s iconography that may be interpreted as a symbol of
inner refuge, identity and personal memory. The crescent moon on the
forehead introduces an additional symbolic dimension, evoking the
relationship between the human, the spiritual and the cosmic. The artwork combines expressive intensity, rich texture and
symbolic imagery, inviting contemplation and personal interpretation.
The incised or scratched signature is located in the lower right
corner. The reverse contains references relating to the artwork, and
its authenticity and authorship have been acknowledged in writing by
the artist himself.
The artwork is sold framed.
