These are two cans with Fish Air , hand signed by artist Servaas. In addition, an original invitation has been added from the exhibition on which Servaas introduced his cans with fish smell at the Belgian Marc Pairon Gallery Installations in Knokke. The cans are mounted in a wooden box with a glass top. The glass can be extended if necessary. The measurements given are of the wooden box.
In 1986 Servaas founded the `Int. ƒish-handel SERVAAS & Zn .`, as a commentary on the interaction between art and commerce. Influenced by the Business Art movement, as you can see in the typography of the logo, the letter 'f' is replaced by the ƒ sign of the Dutch guilder. Examples of works he made under the name Int. Fi$h trading SERVAAS & Zn. Holland are the series-produced cans of Vislucht, Bronwater, Visbier, Parfum “Poisson” and energy-efficient fish gas installations. Under the motto "Art is what you eat", he founded his branch at Art Cologne and sold real herring as art from his fish cart.
