Oil paint on a thick hardboard panel. Perfect condition. It is framed by a heavy, classic, solid wood frame. A small work of art in itself. Theo van der Poel was born on November 30, 1951, in Zoeterwoude-Dorp, the Netherlands. Catalogues sometimes incorrectly refer to Belgian provenance or the birth year 1942.
He completed his art education at the Academy of Visual Arts in Rotterdam (now the Willem de Kooning Academy) from 1977 to 1981. Later, he was also active as a teacher at the same institution. In addition, he has worked as a video artist.
His classical work (often oil on canvas or panel) is notable for a picturesque, impressionistic style. He has a strong preference for traditional, serene subjects such as flower still lifes (particularly roses and sunflowers) and landscapes. This work is therefore a somewhat rarer work by him.

In terms of atmosphere, it is strongly reminiscent of his compatriot Anton Pieck.
