Willem Visser (1956) studied at the Rotterdam Academy (the predecessor of the current Willem de Kooning Academy) from 1974 to 1979. His work is held in private and public collections in the Netherlands and abroad. The landscape plays an important role in his work.
This painting depicts a landscape in the Eifel. Visser stays there regularly, and this constantly yields new impressions. Over the past few years, this has resulted in a large number of paintings in oil and acrylic. What fascinates him most are the color fields of the meadows, the reddish-brown earth, and the thickets. The result is a clear, almost abstract landscape with various layers, unexpected vistas, and surprising vistas.
Willem Visser lives and works in Rotterdam.
