Wim Vaarzon Morel Jr. (born 1931) was the eldest son of Willem Sr. After the difficult period of World War II, the family moved from Amsterdam to Veere in 1947. He attended secondary school in Middelburg and then took drawing lessons for six months at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris. Back in the Netherlands, he was drafted into the navy's diving team from 1951 to 1953. After his military service, he also went on to study at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. Wim then worked there as a teacher and director. In 1957, he married Marijke Heslenfeld. They had four children. Ultimately, Wim resigned from the academy to focus on his independent work as a painter.
