Zao Wou-Ki is the absolute master of the fusion between East and West.
Arriving in Paris in 1948, he achieved the impossible: combining the power of European oil painting with the poetry and gesture of Chinese calligraphy.
His style, lyrical abstraction, does not seek to represent the world, but to paint its energy and breath.
This beautiful book focuses on the spiritual dimension of his work.
How the artist transforms the chaos of colors into a space for meditation.
The cover perfectly illustrates his mastery of transparencies and light, creating "interior landscapes" where the eye gets lost only to find itself again.
The book shows his evolution towards stripping away, where "emptiness" becomes as important as fullness.
