Alphons FREYMUTH (Haarlem 1940)

Painter, sculptor, graphic artist, ceramist

Education: Freymuth was educated from 1963 to 1964 at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. Has worked in Lochem, Haarlem and Amsterdam.

Initially Freymuth mainly made paintings, but from the eighties he also started making sculptures. His work belongs to the New figuration. His brightly colored works often have an abstract expressionist style, but there are also influences of constructivism to be seen. Freymuth often makes figure representations, nudes and portraits. Freymuth has been teaching at the Academy of Art and Industry (AK) in Enschede since 1974.

Exhibitions and prizes:

In 1965 Freymuth had his first solo exhibition at Amsterdam Galerie 845. Freymuth's work can be found in the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and the Gemeentemuseum in The Hague, as well as in various corporate and private collections.
