Henry PRIVAT-LIVEMONT (Schaerbeek 1861 – Schaerbeek 1936)

Henry Privat-Livemont was a Belgian painter, draftsman, poster designer, and decorator, best known for his rich Art Nouveau style in posters, sgraffiti, and interior decorations. He studied at the Academy of Saint-Josse-ten-Noode and worked in Paris from 1883 to 1889 on decorations for institutions including the Hôtel de Ville and the Théâtre Français. Upon his return, he set up a studio in Schaerbeek and made a name for himself with iconic posters, including those for the Brussels International Exposition (1897) and Absinthe Robette. He taught ornamentation and composition at the École Industrielle de Schaerbeek until around 1935. His work combines elegance, technical finesse, and decorative refinement and is considered exemplary of Belgian Art Nouveau in applied arts.
