Idonia Fraissinet (1917 -2013 )

Idonia FRAISSINET (The Hague 1917 - The Hague 2013)

Idonia Fraissinet trained at the Vrije Academie Amicitia in The Hague. She was a painter and draughtswoman, and also created etchings, linocuts, and glass mosaics. Later, she concentrated on paintings, watercolors, and ink drawings. Her work comprises desolate fantasy landscapes with bare trees, rocky mountains, structures, and small human-like figures. In her drawings, she combined detailed execution with strong black-and-white contrasts. The tree recurs as a personal symbol: she stated that it represented the artist herself.
