Josephine SLOET (Amsterdam 1945)
Josephine Sloet is a painter and draughtswoman, and also creates murals, sculptures, photographs, and illustrations. She studied at the Vrije Academie in The Hague and at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam. In her work, the elements earth, water, air, and fire play an important role, elaborated in abstract forms without direct reference to visible reality. From the 1970s onwards, she developed a practice in which human figures, interventions in landscape and nature, and later photography successively took center stage. In addition to independent work, Sloet also realized commissions, including murals and other works in public spaces.
