MARIPOL (Rabat 1955)

Maripol studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Nantes and settled in New York in 1976. She works as a photographer, fashion and jewelry designer, and film producer. Her Polaroid photos document the intertwining of art, music, fashion, and nightlife in the New York downtown scene of the 1980s. As artistic director of Fiorucci, she connected fashion with this creative environment. Her rubber jewelry and styling contributed to Madonna's early image. Additionally, she was the producer of Downtown 81, a film about the art and music scene in which she was active.
