Patty HARPENAU
Painter
Born in Amsterdam in 1959.
Education:
Harpenau was educated at the Amsterdam Rieteld Acaemie, after which she attended the Betzaleh Academy in Israel.
In 1986, after returning from Israel, Patty Harpenau broke through as a painter in the Netherlands. After ten years of working as an artist, Harpenau decided to focus on meditation, on which she has since published a number of books. Her art has evolved from a style similar to neo-Cobra to work reminiscent of Pop-Art. Various themes have also been discussed, but the subject of Harpenau's art has always been close to herself and her interests. Her early work is playful, about the child in the artist, and about the woman. Later on, her work matured, with themes such as the origin of art and the Dutch landscape.
